If ye are prepared ye shall not fear,...

This month's activity is on nutrition and I will be speaking on Food Storage.  Food Storage has been something that I have been doing in one area, but neglecting in others.  I think this class is perfect to help me realize all the holes in my food storage.  First of all, above all we need to store water and I have a 55 gallon drum sitting outside empty. Yep, empty.  I know, but we had to clean out the garage to put the other car in because the window broke last year and we moved the drum out and never got it back in.  So I think water is where I need to start first.

The second nagging thing that has been on my mind has been location. I have all my food storage in my garage which gets an afternoon sun and in the summer probably gets up to 90+ degrees in there.  Obviously not ideal.  The winter months help me justify my location, but I have found that meat goes bad pretty quickly when stored out there.  I have a large closet in my hallway and I think it has Food Storages name written all over it.  It is still less than ideal since my house is 80 degrees in the summer, and 72 in the winter, but I think that it be a better option.  Also it is a little more accessible which will be nice.   Now it just means moving all my craft/sewing/games/and extra blankets to a new location. (that's the not so fun part, but all of those things can store anywhere.)
Here we go, 2 new projects on the list.
